Joe and Nancy met at Occidental College in Los Angeles in 2010 (with Joe being Nancy's RA for a summer program for incoming freshmen). They'd remain friends until the next year, when Nancy became an RA too and they had office hours together. Nancy had to watch Seven Samurai for a class, and Joe offered to watch it with her. Unknown to either of them, it was a two hour and forty minute movie, but thankfully they continued talking well after the movie ended. Their relationship has spanned 2 stints of summer abroad (London and Vietnam), a year-long break up once Joe graduated, a getting-back-together despite being long distance from California to DC, Joe getting into his doctoral program at UVA and finally moving in together at the very beginning of the pandemic. We are so thankful to have had the opportunity to capture this epic love story!
